When Linda told us she was getting married at the Houston Zoo and was very interested in keeping her paper goods with the theme, we were pretty excited! Her style leaned toward bright colors, fun hand calligraphy, and watercolor, so to start the look, we created a custom watercolor crest together with part time papellerette Alyssa Steiner of Loveletterer Calligraphyr. From there, Alyssa did the watercolor illustration of the border and the hand calligraphy with direction from Riley. The save the date is digitally printed on 90# pearl white lettra, with their picture on one side and the watercolor and details on the other.
The invitations took a turn toward the more traditional in format, especially when viewing the invitation alone from the front. We went with a more classic calligraphy style and paired the gold foil with a crisp gray letterpress on 110# pearl white lettra, which we then duplexed to a beautiful real gray for added thickness. When you flip the invite over, you see the digitally printed and laser-cut watercolor wash pocket, filled with fun inserts!
For the inserts, we pulled the illustrations from the save the date into the reply card, reception card, and reply envelope. All of the insert pieces were digital + offset printed on 90# lettra, just like the save the date, to get the fun color but keep the text clean.
This set was paired with a vertical open envelope with gold foil on the flap and touches on the front. We finished them up with beautiful hand calligraphy from Loveletterer and a mix of modern and vintage postage.
